Sarah & Chris’ Sun-Soaked Day Full of Laughs, Love & Jaegerbombs at West Tower
WEST TOWER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Sarah and Chris tied the knot at the stunning West Tower in Ormskirk this past September, and let me tell you—this wedding was something else. From Lord of the Rings touches to a Jaegertrain before cake cutting, the whole day was packed with personality, sunshine, and loads of moments worth capturing.
From the moment they got in touch, I knew their wedding was going to be unforgettable—and they absolutely delivered!
Bridal Prep at West Tower
The day kicked off at the on-site accommodation at West Tower, where I arrived to find Sarah and her bridal party already in full swing. The energy in the room was amazing—so much laughter, chatter, and prosecco floating around. Everyone was just buzzing.
Later on, we made the short move over to the Bridal Suite so Sarah could get into her dress, and honestly, the light in that room is perfect for those pre-ceremony shots!
Groom Prep at a Cosy AirBnB
Meanwhile, Chris was just ten minutes down the road, getting ready at an AirBnB with his groomsmen. The vibe there was laid-back but full of excitement. I love being able to sneak in those candid moments of buttonholes being pinned, last-minute tie checks, and the groom trying (and failing) to act relaxed.
A Stunning Ceremony at West Tower
The ceremony itself? Chef’s kiss. The weather was ridiculously sunny for September, and with the soft light pouring into the ceremony room, everything just glowed. Then came one of the coolest moments of the day—Sarah walking down the aisle to an acoustic version of Architects’ “Heartburn”. Not your typical wedding track, and I was so here for it!
It was such a personal touch that had everyone emotional and beaming at the same time. You could feel the love between these two just radiating through the room. The ceremony went off without a hitch, and just like that they we’re married!
Alternative Vibes, Lord of the Rings & Jaegerbombs
Sarah and Chris aren’t your average couple—and their wedding reflected that in the best way. Subtle Lord of the Rings references were sprinkled throughout the day (spotting them became a bit of a side quest!), and their signature drink? Jaegerbombs. Yep, that’s right.
From casual sips earlier in the day to a full-blown Jaegertrain before the cake cutting, it was clear these two were here to celebrate in style.
Wedding Portraits at West Tower
Before the sun dipped below the horizon, I managed to steal the newlyweds away for a few golden hour portraits around the grounds of West Tower—and wow, this venue never disappoints.
With its elegant architecture and sweeping lawns, West Tower is a dream when it comes to wedding photography. Whether it’s natural couple portraits or fun group shots, this place delivers killer backdrops in every direction.
Sarah and Chris were total naturals too! They were so wrapped up in the moment with each other that all I had to do was hit the shutter.
Storytime & Speeches Before the Feast
Just before the wedding breakfast kicked off, it was time for one of my favourite parts of any wedding—the speeches.
Chris started things off, and honestly, he smashed it! He shared the story of when he knew he wanted to propose to Sarah—while they were at Download Festival, watching Holding Absence perform (Yep, that Holding Absence—the same band they had their first dance to later that night. How mint is that?)
Then it was over to the groomsmen, who each took turns telling their tales about Chris. Cue: stories that had everyone in stitches, especially Sarah. Let’s just say… the photo of her reaction right here says it all.
The perfect mix of love, laughter, and a few roast-level jokes. Weddings speeches done right.
Casino Vibes & Late Night Antics
To keep guests entertained before the evening party kicked off, Sarah and Chris had casino tables set up downstairs. The energy in the room was electric—between blackjack, roulette, and guests cheering each other on, there were candid moments everywhere.
And then came the first dance. Their song? “Honey Moon” by Holding Absence, another unique pick that totally matched the tone of their relationship. Emotional, raw, and completely their own.
From there, the party went into full swing courtesy of the wedding band, fuelled by more Jaegerbombs and non-stop dancing.
Final Thoughts
Sarah and Chris’ wedding at West Tower was everything I love about wedding photography—real, personal, and full of unexpected moments. As a documentary-style wedding photographer, these are the days I live for.
If you’re planning a wedding at West Tower and want your day captured naturally, with all the emotion and madness that comes with it, I’d love to hear from you.
Whether it’s golden hour portraits, your own twist on traditions, or a Jaegertrain to wrap things up… I'm there for all of it!
